1959 Buick Invicta "Blue Suede Shoes"
The story
This build was inspired by Elvis Presley’s iconic song “Blue Suede Shoes,” capturing its spirit of individuality, confidence, and classic American style. The theme is carried throughout the car, especially in the interior, where rich "Ink" leather, white stitching, and custom leather lacing. Paired with our Modern Classikk by AkzoNobel "Blue Suede Blue" and Cadillac White Diamond two-tone exterior, the build blends musical inspiration with modern craftsmanship and performance.
Engine & Transmission
This build is powered by a supercharged LSA engine, enhanced with a Concept One accessory drive and custom Nailhead-style valve covers that blend performance with distinctive visual styling. Power is delivered through a 4L85E automatic transmission, providing strength, reliability, and smooth drivability suited for both cruising and spirited performance.
Chassis
The vehicle rides on an Art Morrison suspension system, engineered to deliver improved handling, stability, and ride comfort while maintaining modern performance capability. Braking is handled by a Wilwood braking system, providing strong, responsive stopping power to match the upgraded drivetrain.
Body Modifications
Extensive refinements were made to create a cleaner, more cohesive appearance while maintaining the vehicle’s classic character. Kindig-it Smooth Door Handles were seamlessly integrated into the exterior trim, and a custom gas cap was designed to replace the factory unit. Both the front and rear bumpers were custom built, along with a simplified front grille that enhances the overall styling. The antenna was shaved for a streamlined profile, and custom hood hinges were fabricated to improve both function and presentation. All exterior badges were removed to maintain a clean, uninterrupted design. The rear of the vehicle was also modified to accommodate a 13-inch-wide rear wheel, giving the build an aggressive stance and improved performance capability.
Paint
The exterior is finished in a two-tone combination of "Blue Suede Blue" from our Modern Classikk powered by AkzoNobel and Cadillac White Diamond. The color pairing delivers a sophisticated contrast that highlights the vehicle’s lines while reinforcing the refined, high-end presence expected from a Kindig-it Design build.
Interior
The interior features an Ink leather finish accented with white stitching and custom leather lacing, creating a rich and highly detailed presentation. A full waterfall center console flows through the cabin, complementing the four-bucket-seat layout using Corbeau bucket seats for both comfort and support. The steering wheel is a shrunken version of the original factory wheel, paired with an Ididit steering column for improved ergonomics. Custom Dakota Digital gauges provide a modern, clean instrument display, while Billet Specialties pedals add a refined performance touch. The cabin is further enhanced with Dynamat sound and heat insulation for improved comfort, along with a Vintage Air climate control system for modern drivability. The vehicle is also equipped with a premium Kicker audio system for high-quality sound performance.
Wheels & Tires
The vehicle rides on custom EVOD wheels built specifically for this project and designed to incorporate Kindig-it’s signature built-in whitewall styling. These wheels are wrapped in Michelin Pilot Super Sport tires, providing excellent traction, performance handling, and ride quality.
